Surrounded by the world's highest mountain - the Himalaya to the north, and the Mahabharat range to the south, the once forbidden Kathmandu Valley has long intrigued intrepid travelers. Despite its remoteness, the Valley situated between Tibet and India has been an age-old center of culture, trade and learning, interfacing between the two great cultures of Aryan India (Whose history is recorded in its myths such as The Ramayana and Mahabharat) and that of the Tibetan Mongolians. The valley itself consists of three distinct cities, Kantipur (Kathmandu), Lalitpur (Patan) and Bhaktapur. Each of these unique medieval cities vies with the other in the distinctive character of its architecture, colorful festivities, and the warm hospitality of its inhabitants.
NEPAL Draped along the greatest heights of the Himalaya, the kingdom of Nepal is a land of eternal fascination, a place where the ice-cold of the high Himalaya meets the heat of the steamy Indian plains. It's a land of ancient history, colorful cultures and people, superb scenery and some of the best trekking on earth.
